So, you’ve decided that 2023 is the year you’re going to renovate your kitchen space. Having a well-designed and beautifully fitted kitchen is a priority for most of us, as the kitchen is the beating heart of family life in the home. We spend so much of our time in their entertaining guests, cooking, eating, drinking and for some of us, working. Our kitchens have to be all things to all people, so the design has to be perfect. Not to mention that a well designed and built kitchen can add to the value of your house. No pressure then.
We’re going to take a look at some of the trends we think will be gaining popularity in kitchen design during 2023. However, knowing what’s out can be just as important as knowing what’s in, so we’ll cover some of the regressing trends as well. We do look after you.
What’s in for 2023
We’ve been out and about talking to a whole range of expert interior design bods to find out what’s hot in 2023. As a result, we have a countdown of the top 5 hottest kitchen design trends this year.
1 - Bold, Beautiful Hardware
This means being brave with your choices of light shades, sockets, door and cabinet handles. Experiment with different materials like copper and bronze to make all kinds of finishes pop in your living space. Including some statement metalwork into your kitchen can bring a whole new level of sophistication, and importantly design kudos! For example, these Odessa Brushed Copper handles would bring warmth and light just about any well-built design.
2 – Mix Your Metals
2023 is going to be the year of the design equivalent of metallic alchemy. Be creative and brave in mixing different metallic materials in your space to create a visually stunning kitchen for you to show off to your guests.
3 – A Splash of Colour
As you’ll find out in a minute, all white might be out, but don’t worry - there’s an easy way to fix a sterile feeling kitchen. You can easily liven up your kitchen by painting some of your surfaces to create a white-colour contrast. For example, paint some of the detailing of your kitchen cabinets to bring your cupboards back to life, or even paint the base of your kitchen island to contrast against a white worktop.
4 – Powerful Pastels
Pastel colours are definitely in this year, and they can be made extra special by teaming them with glossy metallic hardware. Fit these Stainless Steel Hafele Boston D handles to create a gorgeously creative and bright contrast to chalky, pastel greens, blues and yellows. 2023 is the year of creativity and colour!
5 – Be Blue or Go Green
We alluded to this one a moment ago, but blue and green kitchens are definitely in this year. These colours add an immediate wow factor without being overbearing. You can easily experiment with different shades because both colours are so versatile when it comes to worktops and hardware. Deeper, warmer hues encourage natural wood or dark marble finishes to work surfaces, while lighter, chalkier shades lend themselves to warmer metals like copper and rose gold.
What’s out for 2023
We promised it, and here it is. A recent article written for Forbes claims that as many as twelve common kitchen designs areas will be going out of fashion through 2023, according to expert interior designers. Along with our own research, we’ve highlighted two design trends that we think are the ones to be avoiding.
Appliances Over the Range – we think this is a trend that’s definitely on its way out. Use that space above your range cooker to create a beautiful design piece or even for some extra storage space.
All White Everything – you might have noticed this across a spectrum of design areas recently. For about ten years, all white everything was the ‘in’ thing. Not anymore. Designers are discarding white in favour of up to three brave, bold colours. So, when you’re planning your new kitchen design, break out the paint chart!
There you go! What’s in and what’s out in 2023. If any of the design ideas have taken your fancy, visit our website for all of your kitchen hardware.
